Key Focus Areas:
• Tariff classification of imports and exports under the correct HS codes
• Framing, capturing and submitting customs declarations (SAD500) via EDI to SARS Customs
• Customs valuation, determination of country of origin and calculation of duties, VAT and levies
• Sound working knowledge of the Customs and Excise Act and SARS procedures
• Proficiency in clearing / customs management software (e.g. CargoWise)
• Knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and import/export documentation
• Application of rebates, drawbacks, refunds and relevant permits
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word)
• Clear written and verbal communication for liaison with SARS, clients and regulatory agencies (Eg: CBCU; NRCS; Border Police)
• Process Cargo Dues for both Imports and Exports on NPA Portal

Minimum Requirements:
• Matric / Senior Certificate equivalent
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a Clearing & Forwarding agency environment
• Preferred Cargowise experience
• Knowledge of Customs legislation, tariff classifications, Incoterms 2020
• Knowledge of export/Import documentation & procedures
• Working knowledge of third-party quality control authorities’ procedures – ITAC, State VET, Plant Inspector etc.
